Meet the Shine Team

Barnaby Norris

Young People's Service Manager

Barnaby started his role with SJMT back in November 2022 as Young People’s Service Manager. A key part of Barnaby’s work so far has been to move SJMT’s exciting young people’s strategy into a service. Shine launched in July 2023. Barnaby has over 10 years of experience working directly with children, young people, and families within the charity sector. Barnaby oversees the different elements of SJMT’s offer to young people, ensuring that trauma informed ideas and strength-based thinking are embedded within all of Shine’s work.

In his spare time he enjoys watching football and listening to music.

Barnaby says:

"I am an overthinker, but I know at Shine I can be myself. I feel so lucky that acceptance and compassion are part of my job. I’m glad I work somewhere that understands that no two people are the same."

Simon Brown

Young People's Supporter

Simon is the newest member of the Shine team and joined as Young People’s Supporter in July 2024. Simon has lots of experience working with people who have become disempowered by systems that should be there to support them. Simon really sees the value of our outreach work, supporting young people to navigate complex systems, reconnect socially and work on challenges in joined up ways.

Simon says:

‘it’s so nice to be able to do that little bit more and work on challenges one thing at a time’.

We are also looking for volunteer young people's mentors to become part of the Shine team. If you are interested in this role, find out more by downloading the information here.
