October 10th is World Mental Health Day and this year, the theme set out by the World Federation for Mental Health is 'It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace'
The theme highlights the importance of addressing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, for the benefit of people, organisations, and communities.
There are some good resources available to help people manage and talk about mental health in the workplace on the Mental Health UK website and the Mental Health Foundation website.
We wanted to take this opportunity to share some case studies from our Shine service for young people, showing how the scheme has improved the mental health of some of the young people we support.
At SHINE we see that mental health is connected to every aspect of a young person’s life. We’re working with young people to improve their sense of self so that they are better able to move towards their goals.
Here’s what our Supporters have done recently to improve outcomes for young people’s mental health.
Some of the young people we support on the Shine scheme have taken on volunteering which can help with self worth and a sense of purpose, as well as gaining valuable skills.
Our Shine Supporters have been making a huge impact on the lives of the young people we support, being proactive in seeing opportunities to help and support their wellbeing.
We are always so pleased to see the progress of the young people we support on the Shine scheme, often seeing their confidence grow, and in turn, their mental health improve.
